Nokia 6301 is an enhanced version of its predecessor, Nokia 6300. It inherits the same classic, elegant and stainless steel design. This small phone comes in a candybar shape, which gives you a dependably solid feel. The front and the back of the Nokia 6301 have a brushed aluminium finish which gives the phone a sophisticated look. It is quite compact with dimensions of 106.8 x 43.8 x 13.1 millimetres and a total weight of 93 grams inclusive of fitted battery. So you can easily carry it in your pocket on the pad. On the outside, it features an attractive, glossy 2-inch QVGA TFT screen that offers a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. As it supports over 16M colors, the images and videos look good on the display and the animated wallpapers and screensavers come to life. Below the screen, there's a tight, precise keypad of rectangular keys, which is quite responsive when you use it.

Like many other Nokia’s mid-range mobile phones, the 6301's entertainment options are just okay. It comes with a music player that works well, supporting AAC, WMA, and MP3 files and syncing with Windows Media Player. There are plenty of playback options, especially the stereo Bluetooth for wireless headphones and speaker systems. Of course, music functions are not as accessible as on some of Nokia's other music phones, like the 5310 XpressMusic. Apart form a music player, Nokia 6301 also comes equipped with an FM radio that allows you to listen to music on air through your favorite stations. In addition, there is also a 2-megapixel camera on the back of this phone, but it is a little mediocre without auto focus and LED flash support. To store music and videos, this handset also includes 30-Megabyte internal memory along with a 512MB microSD card which can be expandable up to 4 GB, if you want more storage.
